Sumant is founder of NHP Centre, a not-for-profit body engaged in promotion, preservation and conservation of Indian art, culture and heritage. Contributing to the socio-economic development of the country is another key area of organisation's focus. Amongst other, the Centre also works in the areas of health, environment and protection of wild life.
The Centre is a society registered in New Delhi under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
Established in the year 2000, the governing body of NHP Centre comprises of eminent persons with experience in diverse spheres of life. The Centre is chaired by Mr. G.L. Batra, a former bureaucrat, who held key positions in the government including a long stint as Additional Secretary in Lok Sabha Secretariat.
